Nowadays, a lot of models exist, but in terms of all-around performance, few can outmatch the Techkey Bluetooth adapters. Versatile and flexible, Bluetooth adapters give a good account of themselves in quite a few settings. That being said, nothing is perfect, so people complain about the Techkey Bluetooth adapter not working.
Techkey Bluetooth Adapter Won’t Work: Troubleshooting
Run Bluetooth Troubleshooter
Before making any conclusions, it is worth trying to find a fix within your PC. Techkey Bluetooth adapters may have trouble working if computers experience hiccups. Luckily, you could get rid of hiccups by running the Bluetooth troubleshooter.
- Step 1: Open ” Start ” and click the gear icon to open“Settings”.
- Step 2: Navigate to “Update and Security” and choose “Troubleshoot.”
- Step 3: Select “Bluetooth” and “Run troubleshooter”. Follow onscreen instructions to apply fixes if the troubleshooters detect issues.
Restart Bluetooth Support Service
Restart is one of the simplest solutions once it comes to Techkey Bluetooth adapter not working.
- Step 1: Press “Windows + R”, type “services.msc” and hit Enter to open “Services”.
- Step 2: Locate Bluetooth Support Service, right-click it and choose “Restart”.
- Step 3: Following the restart, right-click “Bluetooth Support Service” and select “Properties”. Change the Startup type to “Automatic”, click “Apply” and choose “Ok”.
- Step 4: Restart your PC and see how things turn out.
Install Intel BT and Microsoft Network Adapters Drivers
If your PC lacks Intel BT and Microsoft Network Adapters drivers, it will be tough for your Bluetooth adapter to work. In a number of cases, outdated drivers might also stop your Bluetooth adapter from working.
- Step 1: Navigate to the Search bar, type “Computer Management”, and hit Enter.
- Step 2: In “Computer Management”, pick “Device Manager” to reveal a list of devices on your computer.
- Step 3: Select the device on top, which should be the name of your computer, then hit “Action”. Next, click “Add Legacy hardware”, select“Next”, and choose“Install the hardware that I manually select from a list”.
- Step 4: Pick “Next”, look for “Network Adapters” down the hardware list and select it. Click “Next”, select “Microsoft” under manufacturer and “Bluetooth Device” under model, then click Next. Wait a bit and close Computer Management.
- Step 5: Download “Intel Bluetooth drivers”. Remember to choose the version (64-bit or 32-bit) according to your operating system. Press “Windows key”. Select “Settings”. Select “Devices”. Click “Bluetooth and other devices”, then select Check the Bluetooth Slider. It should be set to On.
- Step 6: Restart your PC, open “Device Manager” and determine whether your Techkey Bluetooth adapter is present.
Update BIOS
If there is nothing out of the ordinary with drivers, but your Techkey Bluetooth adapter still won’t work, it’s time you checked up on the BIOS. If the BIOS is not up-to-date, many devices, including Bluetooth adapters, may go haywire in use.
- Step 1: Go to the Search bar, type “Administrative Tools”, and hit Enter. Look to the right, select “System Information”, and look for BIOS Version under “System Summary”.
- Step 2: Once you know the version of BIOS on your PC, it is time to check if it is the latest version. Go to the Support Downloads webpage of your motherboard manufacturer and compare your UEFI/BIOS firmware to see if it is the latest.
- Step 3: If the BIOS firmware does not match, follow the instructions on the website to download the latest version of BIOS.
Disable Other Bluetooth Adapters
This fix applies to the individuals who have had Bluetooth installed on their devices before. It is recommended to remove the old adapter first before installing the new one.
- Step 1: Open “Start” menu, type “Device Manager”, and hit Enter. Expand “Bluetooth”. Right-click the existing Bluetooth adapter and click “Disable device”. Next, click “Yes” to prevent the old Bluetooth adapter from interacting with your PC again.
- Step 2: With the old Bluetooth adapter disabled, it’s time you set up your Techkey Bluetooth adapter. Connect the Bluetooth adapter to one of your computer’s USB ports, then let Windows detect and automatically install the driver for it.
- Step 3: Assess the operation of the new adapter by opening “Settings”, selecting “Devices”, then “Bluetooth & other devices”. If you can see the Bluetooth toggle switch, you successfully installed the device. Nonetheless, if you only see “Add Bluetooth or Other device”, you have a problem adding the adapter.
