How to Add Music to a Video on iPhone

If you take the time to make and edit a video via your iPhone (a promotional lesson on something fundamental, for example), but it does not have music in its file, then your work will seem unfinished.

That is not sufficient to make the stand-out video. Besides editing, you may also need to add songs and sound effects to the video. That’s why; we will introduce three ways for you to add music to video. Therefore, here we go and double the quality and fun of your video with the background music addition to it.

Part 1: Music change on Memory Videos and iPhone

The Memories function in the Photos app will compile highlights of your videos and photos. The automatically generated Memory video is brought to music tracks and transitions. You can also edit the created Memory video yourself by changing the images included, music, duration, and titles.

Changing and adding Memory videos and music on the iPhone

  • First, be sure your iPhone has iOS 10 or later installed. The following instructions and screenshots are taken from iOS 13.
  • Go to the Photos app and tap the For You click, then scroll down and choose Memories.
  • Click on the Memory that you want to customize. Then within the bottom right corner of the screen, tap the play button to preview all premade videos.
  • If you are not satisfied with the cover title, video duration, cover image, and music, click on Edit.
  • Tapping Music will show you different types of music such as Blues, Dance, Holiday, Electronic, Classical, Country, and Jazz. Pop, Latin, and Rock. (You can find Memories from Maroon 5 under Pop as well.)
  • Tap Done to return after you make all the changes. Tap the Share button, and then you can send the video by mail, through AirDrop, or save it directly to your iPhone.

Part 2: Add music to a video on Clips iPhone

Apple’s new video app is going to be another method to add background music to video: Clips. This app is packed full of inbuilt soundtracks. Pop music, playful, sentimental, action, chill, and many other soundtracks are yours to choose from. Here is the guide on how you can insert a song into your video in Apple’s Clips app for iPhone.

On iPhone: Add your own music to video with Clips

  • Step 1: Open the app and click on the Music icon at the upper right-hand side of your first screen.
  • Step 2 You can go into your My Music option and then make a choice from the screen, for example by tapping on ‘Artists’, ‘Albums’ or indeed ‘Songs’.
  • Step 3: Now, choose from the list of tracks which one you would most like to add to the background.
  • Step 4 – Open up the Play icon to listen once before finalizing.
  • Step 5-When you are satisfied with the result, simply tap on the “Done” Option available at the screen’s top right.

Add soundtracks from Clips to iPhone camera-generated Videos

  • Step 1 Begin by tapping the Music button and select Soundtracks.
  • Step 2 If you are a newcomer, it will take some time for the soundtracks to be downloaded. Tap on your choice of soundtrack and listen to a brief preview.
  • Step 3 Click on the track again to select it. Once the checkmark is next to your soundtrack, that is when it will be chosen.
  • Step 4- At the top left, there is an icon that looks like a little arrow. That is the back button.
  • Step 5 Now hit Play, and see if the soundtrack goes with the video.
  • Step 6: Finally, at the screen’s top right, Tap on Done when you are satisfied.

While Clips may be thought of as a convenient app, once users add music to video on iPhone they cannot adjust the sound. For example, if the users want to do some editing workaround part of the initial point portion of the video file, they will not get much freedom.

‘Clips’ automatically adjusts the audio by matching it in the best possible way to the video. When people want to adjust the audio, they will need one more hand than any video editing app for this purpose.
